About Institution : The Mahaswamigal had the vision of reviving the Ghatikasthana of the hoary past of Kancheepuram, through Modern Temples of learning . In addition to a number of Patasalas run by the Sri Mutt, the first of its kind being SRI SANKARA ARTS & SCIENCE COLLEGE, founded in 1991 to provide liberal education to the rural folk and to promote among the youth the highest and loftiest ideals that constitute the essence of our culture, thereby enabling them to confidently face the challenges of the world and become true and worthy citizens of the great Bharath.
Far away from the madding hubub of urban life the college is situated at a distance of 5 kms from Kancheepuram city at Enathur Village, in sylvan surroundings and opting to offer only job-oriented courses, without any considerations of caste, color or creed. Situated in a sprawling 15 acres campus the College is accessible easily from the Madras-Bangalore National Highway also and has been equipped with good permanent buildings, Laboratory, Library, Playground and Hostel. A recent addition has been a most sophisticated IT lab consisting of 100 Computers, Three Servers with Windows and Multimedia, Internet and Web facilities. In twelve years of its existence the college has been producing almost every year at least one top notcher or two, in all the disciplines.
